Grand Rapids Power Poll: Who’s in, who’s out after Round 1

GRAND RAPIDS – The season is over for Caledonia and East Grand Rapids after both squads lost playoff games this weekend, but the Fighting Scots and Pioneers still found a home in the Grand Rapids Power Poll.
Check out the top 10 after the opening round of the playoffs.

  1. Zeeland West – Recorded its first shutout in two years with a 50-0 win over Byron Center.
  2. West Catholic – Going for its program record 20th straight win Friday against Hopkins.
  3. East Kentwood – Improving defense slowed down red-hot Grandville in playoff opener.
  4. Caledonia – Loss to Mona Shores doesn’t change fact that the Fighting Scots are one of the Grand Rapids area’s top teams.
  5. Lowell – Will meet Grand Rapids Christian in round two, a team the Red Arrows beat 20-12 on Oct. 3.
  6. Rockford – Rushed for 334 yards in 20-14 overtime win against Traverse City West.
  7. Cedar Springs – Handed Forest Hills Northern its first shutout since 2010.
  8. South Christian – The Sailors are 10-1 in playoff games since 2012.
  9. East Grand Rapids – Has lost three straight games to Lowell by a combined nine points.
  10. Grand Rapids Christian – Opened the playoffs with a road win at St. Johns.
